As we near the close of the eighth month of 2025. August is a month of celebration in many countries – celebrations that are tied to summer holidays and enjoying the beaches and the sun to the fullest.
Those of you who are here, noticed that on the 15th August, Malta came together to mark one of its most significant national and religious occasions — the Feast of the Assumption, or Santa Marija. While for many it is a public holiday filled with community celebrations, its meaning runs far deeper. Beyond the spiritual observance, this date carries historic weight for our islands. It was on this very day, in 1942, that the Santa Marija Convoy ‘limped’ into the Grand Harbour, bringing much-needed supplies and renewed hope during one of the darkest chapters of the Second World War.
Just as our nation once drew strength from collective determination, so too can we take inspiration in our own journeys. For our students, the story of Santa Marija speaks to the value of perseverance — of pressing forward even when the path feels uncertain — and of recognising that challenges are not roadblocks but stepping stones to growth.
Therefore, August reminds us that progress is not always immediate, but built day by day through commitment, discipline, and resilience. As you engage with your studies, your projects, and your personal goals, remember that growth is rarely linear: it requires patience, adaptability, and courage. Much like Malta’s story, your journey will be defined not only by moments of triumph but also by how you rise above obstacles with persistence and hope. Let this month, and its legacy, inspire you to keep striving, keep learning, and keep moving forward.
To memories and milestones
Ascencia Team
Karina, who joins us from Angola, has quickly become a shining example of dedication and growth in our community. Though she may not have felt too confident in English at the start, her remarkable progress—driven especially by her independent practice—has been truly inspiring.
What sets Karina apart is not only her own advancement but also her generosity in helping others. She works seamlessly with her peers, supporting them in refining the accuracy of their English. Whether in writing or speaking, she consistently provides thoughtful and precise corrections, and she demonstrates excellent listening skills as well.
All of our students have made impressive strides, but Karina’s commitment, collaborative spirit, and natural ability to lift those around her make her a standout member of our learning community.
This August, we’re shining the spotlight on one of the most important people you’ll meet at Ascencia Malta — our very own Admissions Manager, Ivan! If you’re already here in Malta, or planning to join us soon, trust us when we say: Ivan will be your go-to guide. And here’s a tip… following his instructions to the letter is the golden rule for a smooth study journey!
Why? Because when it comes to visas, Ivan is nothing short of a guru. He’s meticulous, detail-oriented, and always up to date with Malta’s latest laws and regulations (yes, he actually reads them — cover to cover).
What many students don’t know is that Ivan is also your voice with Identità, making sure your concerns are heard and addressed. He goes above and beyond to ensure your paperwork is spot-on and your path to studying here is as seamless as possible.
But Ivan isn’t just about rules and regulations. To us colleagues, he’s the perfect mix of “strict parent” and “office joker” — keeping us on our toes while also making us laugh. His Venezuelan accent has become part of our daily soundtrack, and honestly, we can’t imagine the office without it.
So here’s to Ivan — the meticulous and absolutely indispensable member of the Ascencia family. Thank you for guiding our students, supporting our team, and bringing both structure and fun to our days. We appreciate you, Ivan!
