With the arrival of April, we have welcomed spring – synonymous with new beginnings! The trees are slowly awakening from their slumber, flowers are blooming, and the sun is making itself more present; here in Malta, it also means that the beaches are already starting to fill up again. It feels like the whole island is stretching, smiling, and getting ready for a new season of possibilities.
Here at Ascencia Malta, we are also feeling this sense of renewal. Our April intake is well underway, with yet another cohort arriving to begin their new academic journey. From undergraduate to master’s courses starting over these days, we are eager to welcome our new students, who are full of hope, plans, and dreams for their future.
For many, this is not only a new course, but a new country, a new environment, and a new chapter in life – and we are delighted to be part of that story.
We are also buzzing as we prepare to celebrate our graduates on 8th May. Preparations are in full swing as we organise our third graduation – each one bigger, brighter, and more emotional than the last! This is an exciting moment for us as a school, as we stand side by side with our students and honour the hard work and perseverance they have shown throughout their courses.
As we move further into this new season, we hope you continue to set goals, stay curious, and believe in the progress you are making each day. Whether you are just starting out or getting ready to graduate, remember that every lesson, every challenge, and every small success is part of your journey forward.
We are proud to walk alongside you and look forward to seeing where your hard work and hope will take you next!
To more memories and milestones!
The Ascencia Team.
You’ve definitely seen this friendly face around the school… and if not, you’ve probably at least heard his voice, his advice, or one of his motivational speeches.
Our Employee of the Month is Abel, our Marketing Manager, who has been part of the team for almost two years now. Abel is the creative mind behind our marketing strategy, but his role goes far beyond that. From organising events to making sure students feel welcomed, included, and part of the community, he’s always right in the middle of the action.
Recently married (yes, he’s officially off the market!), Abel continues to show up every day with a smile on his face and a positive attitude that lifts the whole team. That said… if he’s stressed, don’t worry, you will know 😄
Abel is known for being approachable, kind, and always ready to listen. Whether you need advice, a quick chat, or a full-on life pep talk, the “preacher” in him will come out and somehow, you’ll walk away feeling better every time.
At this point, we’re fairly certain Abel does far more than what’s actually written in his job description… in fact, we may need to sit down and update it soon from marketer to event organiser, student support, and unofficial team motivator, he somehow does it all.
This award recognises not just his strong performance this month, but his consistent hard work, dedication, and team spirit over time. Abel is truly a team player who goes above and beyond, and we are lucky to have him with us.
Congratulations, Abel — very well deserved!
Many learners keep long lists of individual words when learning vocabulary, but then struggle to use them in real conversations. Instead of learning words in isolation, try learning them in full sentences.
When you meet a new word, write a short sentence with it, or connect it to a real situation from your own life.
For example, instead of only writing “resilient”, you could write: “I felt resilient when I moved to Malta and continued studying in English.” This way, you remember the meaning, the grammar, and the feeling behind the word all together. Over time, this makes it much easier to speak and write more naturally, because your brain is storing “ready-made” sentences, not just single words.
