Hello April!
Time is flying and here we are, at the end of April, with fresh faces and new energy! A big, warm welcome to all the new students joining us from all around the globe – each one of you bringing your own story, your dreams, and that all-important goal: to study hard and succeed! ✨
If you’ve already settled into life here in Malta, you might’ve noticed a quieter, more reflective mood recently.
That’s because we’ve just observed Holy Week – a time when the island’s deep rooted religious traditions take centre stage. Good Friday (18 April) was a public holiday, and some of you might’ve experienced one of Malta’s iconic processions that beautifully portray the Passion of Christ.
Fast forward to Easter Sunday (20 April), and the island brightened up with celebrations of the Resurrection – not to mention the sweet smell of figolli in the air!
(If you haven’t tried one yet, you’re missing out!)
As we look ahead to May, it’s safe to say… summer’s knocking! 🌞
The days are getting warmer, the beaches are calling, and we can all start soaking in that sunshine. Just a gentle reminder – while flip-flops and shorts are perfect for the seaside, they’re not quite school-appropriate. Let’s keep things cool and comfortable and classroom-ready.
To all our new arrivals – we’re so excited to have you on board. You’ve got this! And to the rest of our awesome student community – keep being amazing, keep striving, and let’s make this a season to remember!
To new milestones & memories! 😇
Ascencia Team
This month, we shine a well-deserved spotlight on one of our standout students—Doris—who is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management. Having journeyed all the way from Nigeria to follow her academic aspirations, Doris brings a vibrant energy to our community, her ever-present smile lighting up every room she enters.
But make no mistake—behind that radiant smile is a deeply driven individual. Doris is fiercely committed to her learning journey and isn’t afraid to engage in robust academic discourse, even challenging her lecturers when thoughtful debate is warranted. Her intellectual courage and unwavering dedication do not go unnoticed.
Her lecturer, Italo, captured her spirit beautifully:
‘Doris is one of those students you know is going places. She’s smart, full of ambition and always ready with a joke or clever comment to make everyone smile. With her drive and great sense of humor, the future’s looking bright and probably pretty fun too!’ 🌟
Doris, we are incredibly proud of you. Your journey is just beginning, and we are excited to see where it leads. Wherever you go, know this—your community stands firmly behind you, today and always.
This April, we’re celebrating someone many of you may not have met in person, but who’s played a huge role in helping you get here.
Yep, we’re talking about one of our rockstars from the Sales Team – the one and only Yassine!
Thanks to his tireless dedication (and serious passion for education), so many of you are now living your study-abroad dream right here in Malta. And guess what? He didn’t come from too far away himself – in fact, he even understands Maltese! Impressive, right?
When he’s not charming agents with his warm energy, you’ll often hear him switching effortlessly between Arabic, French, and English – a truly fascinating blend that reflects just how international he is. Born in Tunisia and once a student in Malta himself, Yassine knows exactly what the journey feels like, which makes him the perfect guide for agents and students alike.
To all of us on the team, Yassine brings not only experience and heart, but also that unmistakable French twang and an ever-ready smile. He’s a joy to work with and an essential part of the Ascencia family.
Merci, Yassine – you truly make a difference!
The SQRRR study method — also known as the SQ3R method.
It is a time-tested, structured approach to reading comprehension and effective studying. It's particularly useful for digesting dense academic material and retaining key information. Here's a breakdown of what SQRRR stands for:
S – Survey: Start by scanning the material to get an overview. Look at titles, headings, subheadings, summaries, charts, and diagrams. This primes your brain and gives you a framework of what to expect.
Goal: Build a mental map of the content before diving in.
Q - Question: Next, turn headings and subheadings into questions. For example, if the section is titled “Causes of Climate Change”, ask, “What are the main causes of climate change?”
Goal: Create curiosity and a purpose for reading. This step makes your study more active and engaging.
