Award in Public Policy Analysis

Policy choices and results in public administration are shaped by a combination of social, economic, and political factors. To craft, embrace, and execute policies that yield the most advantageous results, students must acquire a deep understanding of the multiple theories in public analysis, such as public choice theory, institutionalism, policy process theories, advocacy coalition framework, multiple streams framework, and punctuated equilibrium.

About the Award in Public Policy Analysis

This course offers an in-depth exploration of the theories, methodologies, and practical techniques required to understand, evaluate, and shape public policies. Through a blend of theoretical discussions, case studies, and hands-on exercises, students will develop the critical thinking and analytical skills needed to navigate complex policy issues, contribute to informed decision-making, and address societal challenges effectively. Upon completing this course, students will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to critically assess policy problems, propose viable solutions, and contribute to evidence-based policy decisions in government agencies, non-profit organizations, research institutes, and consultancy firms, among other settings. Combining these theories, methodologies, and practical techniques enables students to not only understand and evaluate existing policies but also to shape future policies by providing evidence-based recommendations and actively engaging in the policy process.
